Wangari Maathai exemplified a kind of experience and life-long commitment to social and environmental justice that was tremendously inspiring to activists the world over. She passed away this week at the age of 71. In honor of her visionary work, which won her the Nobel Peace Prize, watch this PBS documentary on her life and work. Her vision and commitment have inspired a whole generation of activists in Kenya, Africa and around the globe.

Darfur's Skeleton on DVD

One of the best documentaries about the Darfur conflict, Darfur's Skeleton moves beyond all the 'genocide' talk of 'experts' to get to the people themselves and what they are saying about the situation. Darfur's Skeleton avoids the racist 'Arab vs. African' narrative to probe into the envirornmental causes of the crisis. Directed by Haj Hisham Omar, this documentary is not to be missed.
